The new Québec City medal is a creation and realisation of Sonia Beauchesne.

Current recipients of the medal include Céline Dion, Guy Laliberté, Gilles Vigneault and four former mayors of Quebec City. Other medals will be bestowed upon celebrities who have yet to be announced.

The Quebec City medal represents the porthole of a boat, upon which the symbol of the city is seen against a background of blue. When the porthole is opened one sees a map of the earth, representing Quebec`s connection and openness with the world. The medal was created out of silver using the lost wax casting technique and enamel for the blue sea.
