Artistic Itinerary
Since 2002 Sonia Beauchesne has been crafting pieces that evoke a sense of dynamic movement, but which are also sometimes tinged with a special wit and poetry. Her recent work focuses on the interactive possibilities of jewelry.
Sonia is adept at creating works that are made to measure, in addition to exhibition pieces for shows and jewelry boutiques. Her techniques and materials generally hearken back to the forms of traditional jewelry, but include other elements as well, such as resins and particular arrangements of light. Sonia loves to play with the contrasts that are to be found in materials, textures and colours in order to heighten the aesthetic allure of her creations.
Her pieces are remarkable for the feelings of movement they suggest, both in terms of their formal design and their mobile components (effects of light that must be set into motion, windows that open, tiny moving balls…) that interact with the wearer.
Sonia’s artistic quest has led her to explore the magical interplay that arises between a piece of jewelry and the individual who happens to be wearing it. Without the personal substratum of a wearer a piece remains a static and lifeless adornment. Sonia strives to give expression to the special interaction between wearer and jewel.
